EVERRLASTING activation+ by JAZZ CAMP
EVERRLASTING activation+
EVERRLASTING activation+ is an installation and performance art piece taking place at the Processa studio location. This activation is the result of Josh Slowe’s one-month art residency at Processa.
For this project, Artist Josh Slowe was inspired by the Everlast boxing company and its representation of a sport that symbolizes and alludes to brotherhood, classic Americana, 80s pop culture, and an iconic luxurious sport. Yet in his design, he strips these influences down to their rawness.
“EVERRLASTING activation+ is about pushing concepts to their limit. My goal is to make pieces that last forever. Pieces that are timeless,” the artist states.
In the activation, visitors will view pieces from Slowe’s newest capsule collection - specifically button-ups and shorts. The button-ups are representative of the classic work uniform. They serve as unisex attire that anybody can wear regardless of their identity. that symbolize business and American work culture. Here, Slowe is portraying American work culture and making commentary on our contemporary capitalistic society. The shorts take on the exaggeration of a classic boxing short silhouette. They are made out of raw painting canvas. Slowe created these to be worn for “working.” Over time, he would like the pieces to gain color and absorb wear and tear from the everyday workday. “As you wear it takes on a life on its own. It’s made to show your life on it. It gets color, paint, spills, and is made for everyday use,” the artist says.
The installation is designed with accessible ready-mades that will be activated by participants. For the duration of the show, visitors will be able to view and purchase art objects and limited wearable art pieces.
About Josh Slowe
Josh Slowe (b. 1999) is a Black American multidisciplinary artist from Baltimore. His modes of expression investigate and capture themes of minimalism, underground movements, pop culture, and the icon. Slowe’s work has taken on the mediums of photography, fashion design, installation, collage, the readymade, and more. His work transcends the boundaries of one medium by blurring the lines between them with the raw energy of his photography and the clean-cut timelessness of his designs.

Céu da boca, which means "roof of the mouth" in Portuguese, is a performance piece by Rafaella Braga and Duendita rooted in themes of spirituality, cleansing, healing and release. Braga and Duendita will collaborate using different forms of artistic releases in one space. As Braga performs her painting process on large scale canvas, Duendita will experiment with a variety of sound elements and use her voice as a medium. Together the two artists will intuitively improvise a ritual where their mediums will align in one space in honor of healing.
This performance marks the exhibition closing. Tickets $20. RSVP here.

RAFAELLA BRAGA: THE SKY MADE ME A REALITY (OPENING RECEPTION)
Join us from 6-9pm on Thursday, March 10th for an evening celebrating Rafaella Braga's first NYC solo show, "The Sky Made Me a Reality," curated by Processa founder Kiara Cristina Ventura.
RAFAELLA BRAGA: THE SKY MADE ME A REALITY
Processa is honored to present Rafaella Braga’s first NYC solo exhibition, “The Sky Made Me a Reality,” curated by Kiara Cristina Ventura. Viewing the sky as a place to find comfort wherever she is in the world, Braga is meshing the dream and fantasy world with that of reality in her paintings. Braga approaches her painting process like a spiritual ritual —at times lighting candles and making flower offerings in front of her work. She then applies a variety of mediums often using paints mixed with water and a large broom that adds action and performative brush strokes to the canvas. Amoungst the dripping paints and layers of texture lie poems and language that reveal Braga intuition and intention behind each piece. Hence the title of the exhibition “The Sky Made Me a Reality,” Braga is nodding to how the sky serves as an imaginative place to dream and express herself, and thus making her who she is today…a reality.
