CYBER HEALING explores how Latinx and Afro-Latinx artists heal via feminine energy and the digital space.
The Latinx Project at NYU presents the virtual exhibition CYBER HEALING from September 4, 2020 - December 1, 2020 at cyberhealing.world. Curated by Kiara Cristina Ventura of ArtsyWindow, the site explores how Latinx and Afro-Latinx artists heal via feminine energy and the digital space.
The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed the relationship between individuals and the digital world to deepen. This exhibition raises the awareness of how the internet can be curated as a space for healing by the connectivity of the social media world as it is used to discourse, educate, empower and serve us. The digital world of healing has come in to fruition within the last decades to be used as a tool amongst creatives seeking to aid one another and themselves in their time of emotional need, particularly during the events of 2020.
Inspired by social media sites such as Myspace and Tumblr, the CYBER HEALING website features six artists who seek to heal via online platforms, sourced digital media, and/or materials. Ranging from video to mixed media to sculpture, the exhibition raises the themes speaking to visibility, feminism, queerness, reclamation of the body, decolonization, spirituality, and ultimately how these themes educate and serve healing processes.
