Nicole Bello (she/her) is a Dominican-American artist  born and raised in the Bronx. She attended Hunter College and received a degree of The Arts, currently she is working on a Visual Arts Masters degree at City College. Her work deals with themes of identity, sexuality, gender, home, self love and power. Often focusing on portraying herself and other women in self reflective, emotional or fantastical situations. She looks to express the dynamic relationship of self vs self or female vs society. As well as aiming to depict the beautiful complexities of life through a combination of color, textures and symbolism.

Most of her works are heavily rooted in feminine energy. Often conveying concepts that are relevant to her Dominican culture and position as a Latina in the world. She is strongly influenced by her memories, childhood traumas and challenging life experiences. The works are centered on the self, memories, thoughts, self acceptance and a journey of personal healing. She aims to bring to life the intricacies of her own psyche and inner conflicts. The art works provide the opportunity for others to see themselves through a reflective lens and explore their relationship with themselves and others. The work intends to motivate empathy, intimacy, self identity and to express our own beauty, strength, individuality... ultimately self awareness and acceptance.
