EVERRLASTING activation+
EVERRLASTING activation+ is an installation and performance art piece taking place at the Processa studio location. This activation is the result of Josh Slowe’s one-month art residency at Processa.
For this project, Artist Josh Slowe was inspired by the Everlast boxing company and its representation of a sport that symbolizes and alludes to brotherhood, classic Americana, 80s pop culture, and an iconic luxurious sport. Yet in his design, he strips these influences down to their rawness.
“EVERRLASTING activation+ is about pushing concepts to their limit. My goal is to make pieces that last forever. Pieces that are timeless,” the artist states.
In the activation, visitors will view pieces from Slowe’s newest capsule collection - specifically button-ups and shorts. The button-ups are representative of the classic work uniform. They serve as unisex attire that anybody can wear regardless of their identity. that symbolize business and American work culture. Here, Slowe is portraying American work culture and making commentary on our contemporary capitalistic society. The shorts take on the exaggeration of a classic boxing short silhouette. They are made out of raw painting canvas. Slowe created these to be worn for “working.” Over time, he would like the pieces to gain color and absorb wear and tear from the everyday workday. “As you wear it takes on a life on its own. It’s made to show your life on it. It gets color, paint, spills, and is made for everyday use,” the artist says.
The installation is designed with accessible ready-mades that will be activated by participants. For the duration of the show, visitors will be able to view and purchase art objects and limited wearable art pieces.
